Statement on the Ontario Election Results

With multiple news outlets projecting that the PC Party will win a majority of the seats in the Ontario legislature, Alanna Sokic, CCI’s Manager of Government Affairs for Ontario gave the following statement on behalf of our members:

“On behalf of Ontario’s innovators, I want to congratulate Premier Doug Ford on his re-election. Since 2018, CCI has worked closely with the Ontario government on strategies to grow Ontario’s innovation economy, including the development of a provincial intellectual property agency, an aggressive digital government agenda, and procurement modernization to the benefit of homegrown companies.

“With the election behind us, we can’t wait for work to resume on important initiatives, including Ontario’s tech talent shortage, standing up Ontario’s data authority, putting Ontario’s Digital ID program into action, and leveraging our innovators to create a more efficient and effective health care system.

“We look forward to the appointment and swearing in of Cabinet, so our members can help Premier Ford and his government implement their new agenda as soon as possible.”
